What's Happening in VBA?

Voices of the Black Academy has an event-packed year planned for the 2014-2015 academic year. We are striving to put together a calendar of events that will fulfill all three pillars: academy, advocacy, and scholarship. We have set out to put together brown bags featuring graduate students in addtion to the brown bags and lectures offered by the department so our students have a chance to present on current research as well as organize reading groups for research papers, thesis and dissertation peer review. We will also be organizing outreach programs with the AAAS Community Extension Center, as well as looking into working with other organizations in Columbus. To foster the black academy, we will also be hosting happy hours and other socials for both students and faculty. Please check the calendar for all current events and check back often as we are constantly updating it with new and exciting events happening both through VBA and the Department of African American and African Studies.

Voices of the Black Academy will be hosting our 1st Annual Holiday Party Friday, December 12th. Lovely Egg Nog and White Elephant time...more information to come!

Will you be attending the National Council for Black Studies  39th Annual Conference? March 11 - 14, 2015 in Los Angeles!
